HISTORY

picturehistory

Founded in 1984, Martinez and Company was born with the mission to help private business unravel the complex procedures and security measures either ‘recommended’ or mandated by the U.S. federal government and international regulatory agencies. The company focused its primary attention on the maritime industry, international transporters, manufacturers doing business cross-boarders, and supply chains originating from high risk regions of the world.

Over the decades, Martinez and Company’s scope of operations broadened to include, in 1991, the formation of a wholly owned subsidiary, presently RMartCo of Costa Rica, S.A., to provide security officers on board seagoing vessel. In 1994, the company incorporated in the State of Florida and headquartered its Americas operations in Tampa. In November 2000, Martinez and Company was selected by the Tampa Port Authority (TPA) to conduct the facility security survey for TPA and its tenants, which was used to develop the Port of Tampa Security Plan in accordance with the State of Florida guidance outlined in the Statewide Security Assessment of Seaports. In 2004, Martinez and Company opened a security guard agency for the physical protection of commercial facilities and terminals in the State of Florida.

During that same period of time, Martinez and Company played a founding role in developing the Manatee Port Authority passenger terminal security procedures for Regal Cruise Lines. This later led to Martinez and Company working with McRobert’s Protective Service and Scotia Prince Cruise Lines at various cruise terminals in Tampa Bay.

Today, Martinez and Company remains a small but highly respected source for practical security solutions within the safety and security industries.
